About the program
The Arts One Indigenous Perspectives Certificate is your gateway to post-secondary education. You earn credits in university courses that are transferrable to most diploma programs at VIU and elsewhere. And you receive a unique credential for completing your first year of studies. The certificate can be completed right here at home through innovative courses tailored to meet the needs of this community.
The certificate includes 30 credits of post-secondary courses, the equivalent of one year of full-time study. It combines
- 12 credits in Indigenous Studies, which is quickly becoming mandatory content in programs across the country
- 6 credits of English
- 12 elective credits you can earn in-person, online or with hybrid delivery
In the summer you can complete intensive, experiential courses that take place on the land rather than in the classroom.
